Fisker Inc. will launch their first electric car, the EMotion sedan, at next year’s Consumer Electronic Show on 9 January. The electric sedan will carry a price tag of $129,000.
The EMotion EV sedan will enter into a direct rivalry against Tesla Model 3 and Faraday Future FF 91. The production-spec car boasts of a whopping 645 km battery range, which is significantly higher than both its rivals. Contrary to its earlier claims of using the futuristic Graphene battery pack, conventional NMC batteries only will be used in the car. Fisker has also promised level 4 autonomous credentials, however, it is still under development. All the necessary hardware like LiDar and 360-degree camera are present, but the real-world testing (as proven by Tesla) is still pending. The EMotion’s body shell is made of carbon fibre, aluminium, and composite materials. It conforms to the required strength, stiffness, lightweight and rigidity. The design carries typical Henrik Fisker cues with sharp creases and round bulges, all at the right places. The short overhangs and underfloor battery storage promise a cabin space that would rival the likes of the S-Class, claims the carmaker. The clean design is complemented by a smooth flowing coupe-like roofline. At the rear, the sleek LED tail light runs across the tail lip with rear diffusers. The wheel arches are flared and house chrome wheels. In all plausibility, the crazy butterfly doors will be retained in the production spec.
The EMotion will be manufactured at the VLF Automotive facility in Los Angeles alongside the VLF Destino V8 and VLF Force 1 V10 supercars. The carmaker hopes that the EMotion will be able to pave the way for a more consumer-friendly, mass-produced and affordable electric car in future.
