Fisker has taken the wraps off the EMotion EV ahead of its official launch on August17. The EMotion has been teased extensively until now when the carmaker has finally revealed the EV in all its glory.

Henrik Fisker’s return to car business was announced in October last year when the designer-turned-automaker launched his new car company – Fisker Inc. The EMotion keeps a lot of design cues from its concept while still being practical and realistic. The EMotion is an all-electric sedan which promises a range of 645km upon its arrival with autonomous driving credentials, connected car technologies and quick charging features. Henrik Fisker’s design traits are visually present in the EMotion with a low-slung nose, smooth flowing roofline and large wheels. The four doors are neatly packages with hidden door handles, there is no rear overhang at all and the boot spoiler adds character to the coupe-like silhouette. The chrome-finished wheels are very conventional looking for a car this futuristic. At the rear, the sleek LED tail lights run across with black treatment on the diffusers and rear bumper.

There are LiDar sensors upfront hidden in black centre piece asserts Fisker. The new development hasn’t revealed whether the EMotion will carry the crazy ‘butterfly doors’ as seen in the concept, but there is a high chance of the car sporting the unconventional doors in production spec. On the inside, the carmaker boasts of ‘superb leg room’ in the cabin owing to the clever packaging of the unconventional powertrain.

No details of the powertrain or output figures have been divulged yet. But contrary to earlier claims, the EMotion won’t make use of the futuristic Graphene battery pack, instead, it will employ conventional NMC batteries sourced from ‘world’s leading battery company’. However, the carmaker will continue to research on the Graphene battery pack under the Fisker Nanotech, Fisker Inc.'s sister company and battery division. Courtesy of the new battery tech, Fisker claims the EMotion will have a range of about 644km on a single charge and will go on to hit a top speed of 260kmph. The car’s body is made from carbon fibre, aluminium, and composite materials conforming to the required strength, stiffness, light weight and rigidity.

The Fisker EMotion will be produced at the VLF Automotive facility where two luxury performance cars – Destino V8 and Force 1 V10 are being manufactured with Fisker’s assistance. The carmaker hopes that this car will be able to pave the way for a more consumer-friendly, mass-produced and affordable electric car.
