      Fiat has taken the wraps off the new 500L. The crossover features a few cosmetic updates along with a bunch of new comfort creatures and technology.

      Visually, the updates are subtle. The new Fiat 500L gets a revised front bumper with the signature trapezoidal trim and the chromed lower grille mesh, with LED DRLs being offered as standard. The fog and reversing lights have been moved to the underside of the bumper. Even the wheel arches and the rear section get chrome strips.

      The interior though, gets a few significant updates. There are chrome accents all around to give it an elegant look. The driver gets a TFT colour digital display in the instrument console. As for practicality, there are new, larger storage. It also gets a new central armrest, with the gear lever being moved slightly higher. The infotainment system allows smartphone integration.

      Fiat unveils new 500L

      There are no changes to the mechanicals. The petrol engine line-up includes a 95-horsepower 1.4-litre unit and a 1.4-litre T-Jet unit, delivering 120 horsepower. The diesel line-up includes a 95-horsepower 1.3-litre MultiJet and a 120-horsepower 1.6-litre MultiJet.

      The Fiat 500L is available in no less than ten pastel or metallic colours and with three types of roof - body-coloured, glossy black or white or matt black. This gives customers over 36 options to get their personalised Mini. The Fiat 500L is available in three versions - Cross, Urban and Wagon. It is also available with five pre-customised trims - City, Comfort, Safety, Style and Style Plus. Prices start at GBP 16,195 in the UK. Deliveries will commence in September.
