      Fiat to open 42 new dealerships in India by year end

      Fiat India will be opening 42 new dealerships across the country by the end of this year. In less than a year, the company has inaugurated 108 dealerships scattered in various cities of the country. With the launch these dealerships, the company will have 150 standalone showrooms in India. Fiat’s agreement withTataMotors ended on March 31, 2013, and since then the Italian car maker started its solo itinerary in domestic market. In a bid to boost sales of its cars in India, the company inducted new service package that comprise of three year manufacturer’s warranty that can be extended to five years, mobile service vans and 24X7 road assistance.

      Fiat is contemplating to launch nine new cars in India within next two years. Out of the nine new models being developed for India, five will be launched by the end of 2014. Fiat recently launchedfaceliftedLinea in India and will be launching four more cars in the domestic market. Among the new cars, tweakedPuntohatchback, newAvventuracrossover,AbarthPuntoandAbarth500 hatchback are included.Abarthis the company’s performance oriented sub-brand andAbarth500 will be the first vehicle to be launched under this brand.Abarth500 will be brought to India as a completely built unit, however the company has not hinted on the pricing of the car.

      Besides these, Fiat is also considering to bring Chrysler models to the domestic market which will be a part of premium segment of the domestic market. Chrysler models could first be inducted as completely built units and depending on response, the company might think on assembling those models locally.
