Festive season marks launch of several cars across segments from most of the car makers every year in India. Fiat Punto facelift has also registered its name among the new cars and facelifts being launched this festive season. Fiat is leaving no stone unturned to revive its dud sales in the Indian auto industry. Along with new products likeAvventura crossover and Abarth 500, the company also exhibited facelifted version of Linea sedan at 12thAuto Expo held in Greater Noida earlier this month. Bookings for tweaked Linea have already commenced, Fiat dealers are excepting bookings at a token amount of Rs 25,000. Linea facelift will be launched in India on March 4th. Fiat India also inducted its performance brand Abarth which is expected to bring its products by end of this year.
Despite several efforts, Punto had not been garnering decent sales. Even Linea has not been able to pitch good sales number for the Italian auto cos and hence Fiat decided to tweak both the models. Among the changes made to the new Punto, a new front bumper, new fog lamps, new head lights and a fresh grille are included on the exterior front. Rear gets a new bumper too and a set of new tail lights.
Interiors will get new upholstery for seats along with a restyled dashboard. Rumours suggest that the new Punto has taken most of its style cues from Fiat Avventura Crossover which is also expected to be launched in India by the end of this year. There will be no changes in the engine line-up, petrol version will be offered in two engine options – a 1.2 litre and a 1.4 litre gasoline motors. Diesel variant will come in one engine option- a 1.3 litre multi-jet engine producing varied power outputs of- 75 PS and 90 PS.
