Stylish hatchback Punto from Italian car-maker Fiat's stable has been creating quite a lot of curiosity hinting on a possible launch sometime soon. On numerous occasions the car has been spotted undergoing road tests across various locations and recent reports indicate that it might be launched sometime soon. The tweaked version is not expected to sport comprehensive changes, it is expected that Fiat may bestow minor cosmetic upgrades. Mechanically the hatchback will remain largely same as the outgoing version.
The upcoming Fiat Punto shall be launched in petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant is stated to be powered by 1.2 Liter and 1.4 Liter engine that generates about 68 Bhp of power with 96 Nm of torque and 90 Bhp of power with 115 Nm of torque respectively. The diesel version is expected to retain 1.3 Liter multi-jet engine that generates about 90 Ps of power. Exact technical specification has not been revealed as of now, and shall be revealed post an official launch expected sometime later this year. The changes this time around are primarily cosmetic. As per sources the hatchback shall sport new designed headlamps, taillights and smart interiors. The production version of Punto hatchbacks expects a bigger and smoother front and rear bumper that adds a smart external appeal to the car.
Fiat has been struggling with poor sales figures within the country for quite a while now. Sometime earlier this year Fiat had launched a new face-lifted version of Linea at an attractive price tag of about Rs. 6.99 Lakhs. With the anticipated launch of Punto in August this year, the car-maker anticipates to generate a good sales number this year.
