Italian carmaker Fiat, has been working towards building a good brand image for itself in the domestic market. This time around the carmaker has not just been planning a good market for itself but also has been working on building and exporting new luxury SUV's from the domestic plants. Fiat has reportedly made an investment of about Rs 1,500 - 2,500 crore investment in the country and the manufacture of premium SUV's is also on their agenda.

Speaking more on the occasion, Gaurav Vangaal, senior analyst for forecasting at consultancy firm IHS Automotive, said, “The future is in India whether it is for domestic market or for export manufacturing. Renault-Nissan, Ford, Hyundai and Maruti all have accepted this fact that manufacturing in India gives strong top and bottom numbers. Exporting a luxury brand from India will definitely be a strong image booster for Indian manufacturing in mature markets, where India always remains popular with small hatchbacks.”

if reports are to be believed, Fiat has already started working on development of its first premium SUV's and the production for the vehicles are likely to begin from 2016. As compared to old times when India was looked as manufacturing hubs for small cars, things are about to change now and India shall emerge as a new strong market for the production of cars from across a wide range like SUV's and luxury cars.
