Fiat is desperate to boost its image in the country. It shall be launching its new models in the country soon including its Alfa Romeo. It aims to grab a larger market share of growing Indian auto industry. It plans to launch the CNG variant of its model Fiat Palio early next year. Currently, the model is available in diesel and petrol versions only.
"We will launch the CNG variant of the Palio by early next year," said Rajeev Kapoor, President and CEO, Fiat India. The company shall also launch its model 500 within next 12 months. It shall also introduce Linea in September and Grande Punto early next year. "The 'Grande Punto' is a bigger car than others in its segment so there will be a price differential," Kapoor said.
500 shall be imported as completely built unit from Italy but Linea and Punto shall be manufactured in the country itself. Company has its own manufacturing unit in Ranajangaon in Maharashtra.
