The Indian unit of leading Italian car maker Fiat is all set to commence the export of its popular mid-size sedan Linea to neighboring country Sri Lanka from today. Among the four available variants of the car, the 1.4 Fiat Linea Emotion is expected to drive considerably high volumes for the car maker due to its effective price positioning and features. The vehicle that will be exported to Sri Lanka will be similar to the Indian Fiat Linea.

At present, the total sales in the Sri Lankan market stand at 20,000 units and the Italian car maker is aiming to account for a market share of five percent in that market in the initial year itself. Later on, the company plans to export the car to countries like Nepal and South Africa from India by the first quarter of next year.

He added that the exports of the Linea to Sri Lanka play a significant role in reaching out to the international markets and establishing Fiat’s presence globally. The company is confident that it will be able to replicate the success of this car overseas as well and thereby expand its footprint and brand identity across markets.
