Fiat India is aggressively promoting its upcoming hatchback based crossover Avventura ahead of its official launch in India. The company has released a new teaser of Avventura that says “Thrive on Discovery and Thrill”. In this teaser the company has explained significance of roof rails of the car. The “multi-purpose” roof rails of the car are claimed to carry bicycles on it. At new Punto Evo’s launch, company officials foreshadowed at the launch date of Avventura in India to be within 60 days from the launch of new Punto Evo. Hence it is being expected that Avventura crossover could make its debut in domestic market before October 6th.
Features that are expected to be offered on Punto based crossover include plastic body claddings, skid guards, projector head lamps in the front and an exposed spare wheel. It is also likely that the crossover will offer an increased ground clearance as compared to Punto hatchback. Inside the cabin, one can expect contrast stitching and roll-and-tilt gauges.
Avventura will be housed with the same set of engines as bestowed on new Punto Evo. Petrol range will be made available in two options-1.2 litre and 1.4 litre petrol engine. Deisel variant will get 1.3 litre multi-jet engine outputting varied power output. Fiat has showcased Avvetura at 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year that featured a six-speed manual transmission. However, Punto Evo is available in only five-speed manual transmission. Hence there is still uncertainty on whether Fiat will equip a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed manual gearbox in Avventura. In hatchback based crossover segment, Avventura will compete with other rivals in its segment such as Volkswagen Cross Polo and Toyota Etios Cross.
Speculations suggest that Fiat could price new Avventura between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 8 lakh. Later this year, Fiat will induct its performance oriented brand, Abarth in India under which the first car to go on sale would be Abarth 500 premium hatchback.
