Fiat India, the domestic division of Italian car maker Fiat Group, seems all prepared for the launch of new cars in the country, which will help it to boost sales. Also, the company is planning to expand its footprints in the several parts of India, with third showroom being recently inaugurated in Pune. Currently, the company has around 70 showrooms in more than 50 cities of the country.

Expressing his views on the aggressive move taken by Fiat India, the President and Managing Director of the company, Nagesh Basavanhalli was quoted as saying, “Even though at present Indian car market has slowed down, we are committed to it and would be launching new product over the next three years. Despite slowdown in the economy, in the last four months, our numbers have been growing steadily crossing 1,000 units per month.”

He further said that the auto maker is developing a strategic plan, wherein it will launch around nine new models, in order to two-fold its share in the Indian auto market amid stiff competition. “We have a definite plans to launch four models from Fiat, four from Jeep and Chrysler brands and one model from Abarth marquee brand in the next three years. At present, we have garnered little less than one per cent market share. Our target is to make it to two per cent by the end of next year and then, to double our market share every year. We have 70 exclusive dealerships, including the company owned Fiat Caffes in Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune (there are only 12 Fiat Caffes around the world). By the end of this calendar year, we will take the tally to 100, thereby adding 30 new dealerships this year,” he said.

However, Basavanhalli presented a timeline of the upcoming launches of Fiat in India. Currently, the auto maker offers petrol and diesel models of Linea and Punto between a price range of Rs. 5.75 lakh and Rs. 6.75 lakh, which squares off against the likes of B+ and C segment models that constitute around 70 per cent of the entire passenger vehicle market of the Indian auto industry. In order to expand its network and reach in the country, the Italian auto maker is planning to introduce Jeep brand in India by launching Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models. Interestingly, both of these models have been spotted a number of times doing test runs in the country, which further strengthens the fact that Jeep brand will soon make its official debut in the country.
