      Fiat India appoints Mr. Gurpratap Boparai as the new President and CEO

      Fiat India Automobiles, the Indian subsidiary of the Italian automaker has sworn in Mr. Gurpratap Boparai as the company’s new President and CEO, who was serving as the Head of Powertrain Division in the company. Mr. Boparai has succeeded Mr. Rajeev Kapoor, who has announced his retirement from the designation after attaining 60 years of age and since his joining in the company in 2007, he has been well credited for shaping up dynamically its Indian counterpart.

      Mr. Boparai was heading the Powertrain Division after a prolonged 20 years of rich experience in the automotive sector and prior to his joining at Fiat India Automobiles, he had dedicatedly served in auto companies such as Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company Limited, Ocap Chassis Parts Private Limited, Iveco and Tata Cummins Limited.

      In the year 2009, Mr. Boparai assumed his last position in the Powertrain Division and was accountable for all activities pertaining to business development and handling the financial, production, PE, HR and other functions at the powertrain facilities. In his position as the President and CEO of Fiat India Automobiles, he will be challenged to capitalise his experience, knowledge and efficacy in the enhancement and ramping up of the state of the art facility of the company located at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra.

      At present, the company is aggressively planning to make its Indian portfolio highly versatile with introduction of new models in the passenger vehicle segment along with expansion of its footprint across the nation.
