A convertible version of the Ferrari LaFerrari hypercar may get launched this year. An Instagram snap from a private event where the car was believed to be shown to potential buyers indicates this development.
The photo taken by user petrolhead_4life shows a Ferrari box with the illustration of a Spider body style on the lid. It further indicates that the private reveal took place at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
There are suggestions that this car will get a detachable hardtop like its rival, the Porsche 918, which would make it convenient but even heavier than normal, a possibility that Ferrari is unlikely to take lightly. The roofed version weighs just 1250kgs and this one is likely to have another 30kgs added to its bulk.
It seems more possible that Ferrari is likely to go down the auto folding soft top route. This cloth covering is expected to be contrast coloured and will be priced higher than the hard top version. It is also expected to have a limited production run of around 150 units.
