The Ferrari Laferrari has been the flagship super car from the prancing horse stable but now has been dethroned by the LaFerrari Aperta. The convertible LaFerrari will now join the list of the most coveted Ferraris with only 209 units being built, 200 of which will be sold to customers and nine will be retained by the company for showcases.

The LaFerrari Aperta comes with a retractable roof and from what Ferrari engineers claim, despite the missing roof and the resultant additional braces needed to maintain rigidity, the Aperta is as fast as the LaFerrari. Even with the carbon-fibre roof down, Ferrari claims that the aerodynamic drag does not increase thanks to the new L-shaped flaps on the top of the windshield. All we know is that if you wanted one, you will have to wait for someone to sell the Ferrari masterpiece.

LaFerrari or The Ferrari, as it translates, is the first hybrid production performance car the Italian marque has built. The most powerful Ferrari built as yet, the LaFerrari is powered by a mid-rear mounted 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 petrol engine. With all 12 cylinders firing at full throttle, it develops 789bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. The engine is complemented by a 161bhp hybrid KERS unit that bumps the combined output up to 950bhp of power and 900Nm of torque.
