FCA launches Jeep Grand Cherokee petrol in India at Rs 75.15 lakh

Expanding its product line-up in India, FCA has introduced the Jeep Grand Cherokee petrol in India at Rs 75.15 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new variant is available in two more colours - velvet red and diamond black crystal, in addition to existing shades of billet silver metallic, bright white, granite crystal pearl and true blue pearl. The new Jeep Cherokee Summit petrol completes the directly-imported Jeep SUV portfolio in India.

Mechanically, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit petrol gets a 3.6-litre Pentastar engine that generates 286bhp of power and 347Nm of torque. This powerful engine comes mated to an eight-speed paddle shift automatic transmission. The ‘Gen II’ automatic transmission claims to offer optimised lubrication which has helped improved clutch durability, shift response and consistency that enables smoother downshifts. The diesel variant of the Grand Cherokee will also get the Gen II 8-speed paddle shift transmission.

In terms of electronics, the Grand Cherokee Summit petrol gets electro-hydraulic power steering system as a replacement to the electric power steering (EPS) to offer improved handling. Additionally, it also offers three select modes – Normal, Comfort and Sport. The vehicle also gets ParkSense’ – a rear park assist system along with a Start / Stop function. In order to reduce noise and enhance comfort, the entire Jeep range now gets an acoustic windshield.  As for design, the Grand Cherokee Summit petrol gets LED fog lamps and a special fascia with enhanced ‘billet-like’ plating on the grille slots as part of the Grand Cherokee package to mark its 75th anniversary. The vehicle also gets new 20-inch alloys in polished aluminum with technical grey painted pockets as standard.
