The lovers of The Fast and The Furious franchise are in for a treat as the makers are planning to release the seventh film of the series next year. Based on illegal street racing and car robbery, The Fast series comprises six films with the first being released in 2001 and the latest in 2013. It has enjoyed a great deal of success over the years, gaining popularity in all parts of the world. An indication of its success is the way the series has been celebrated by fans all over the world and the creation of The Fast and The Furious merchandise including video games, toys and model kits.

Fast and Furious 7, slated to release in 2014, will be directed by James Wan and is written by Chris Morgan and Gary Scott Thompson. The film will star action hero Jason Statham, who is known for films like The Transporter, Crank and the Expendables. Along with Statham, the cast of Fast and Furious 7 includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson. The expected storyline is a revenge plot that involves Ian Shaw (Jason Statham) seeking vengeance from Dominic Torreto (Vin Diesel) and his crew, who conspired to take down Owen Shaw (played by Luke Evans in Fast and Furious 6). In an interesting turn provided by the makers of the popular series, the plot of the sixth edition was connected to the events that took place in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Jason Statham, who recently joined the Fast and The Furious bandwagon is really excited about the upcoming film and also expressed his joy over the success of the sixth edition. A lot of fans were elated to see Jason Statham making an entry in the dying seconds of Fast and Furious, which can be termed as a great marketing ploy used by the makers to keep the audience interested. In response to the buzz his entry generated, Statham said, “It's fantastic. A lot of people have said it today and I'm like, "Really? Is everyone outside saying the same thing?" You must be number ten who said it today, they say it goes nuts. That's just the best news I've ever heard, it's fantastic to hear that.”

Director James Wan and Statham would be the new additions to this ever growing franchise. When asked about his plans to impact the series, Statham added, “Yeah, it's daunting. I can't wait to sit with James. I just wrapped a movie over in Vegas, so I haven't had a chance to sit with James. We've had a couple phone calls, I'm dying to sit down with him and we're gonna figure something out. I'm really excited to be a part of that franchise.”

Spanning over a decade, this series has put some great cars on show for the audience. Some of these cars include 1972 Ford Gran Torino, Turbocharged Mazda RX-8, 1997 Mazda RX-7, 2006 Nissan 350Z, Skyline-Powered 1967 Ford Mustang, 2003 BMW M5 and Nissan 370Z (Z34). However, the most popular cars shown in the franchise are 2012 Lucra LC470, 1969 Chevy “Big Red” Camaro, 1969 Dodge Daytona and 1970 Dodge Charger.

The Fast and Furious 7 is expected to be a success at the box office due to the presence of Jason Statham and the twist brought in by makers at the end of the last film. It is expected to release in July 2014 in the United States of America.
