India's largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki had launched an old car with a new charm rechristened as Stingray a while ago in the Indian market. The newer version was stated to be based on the older Wagon R hatchback platform and had been redesigned to mainly appeal to the younger lot of car buyers in the country. The Wagon R hatchback has been in the Indian market for over a decade now and has been widely accepted by the masses. Over time, the Wagon R hatchback had been a practical choice for an average middle class Indian buyer who looked out for space, comfort and decent power from their daily mode of commute.

The Stingray hatchback from Maruti is currently available only in a petrol variant. Probably this was the only factor that seems to have affected Stingray sales. Starting with the interiors, the Stingray sports a dual tone Grey-beige shade on the plastic upholstery. Audio controls are back-light and have been steering mounted for easy navigation through the play-list. The instrument cluster is illuminated with a blue back-light to give you a sportier feel. The AC vents has also received a dash of Chrome that gels well with the dual tone interior combination. Moreover, the vehicle sounds an alert every time you forget to take your keys out post parking.

On the exterior front, the Stingray sports a brighter and sportier projector headlamp. The front grills are sleeker and are complimented with large air-dam that lends it a stunner look. The bumpers look bigger and is mated well with the side skirting. One things that brings out its style in true sense is the abundant use of Chrome on the vehicle. Grayish-silver 14 inch alloy wheel brings out the raw instinct that may appeal to youth on a large scale.

Maruti Suzuki Stingray is powered by the same 1.0 Litre three cylinder K-series engine. The refined engine generates about 68 PS of power with a peak torque of 90 Nm. The K series engine has been successful with the current lot of Maruti hatchbacks. Technical specifications for the car are similar to the older Wagon R, the only difference here would be cosmetic upgrades as the Stingray has been specifically designed to appeal to the younger buyer lot.
