Toyota Etios facelift revealed inside out before official launch

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is preparing to launch the facelifted Etios series of cars this month. Just ahead of its official launch, both the Etios sedan and Liva hatchback have been fully revealed.

It is evident from the new images that the facelifted avatar is similar to the Toyota Etios Platinum models launched in Brasil recently. The revisions in the front include a new V-shaped grille with black inserts and chrome embellishments. Then the bumper gets a large intake and revised fog lamp inserts with chrome accents. The rear bumper is also more sculpted on both cars, save for the addition of rear parking sensors on the Etios sedan.

There are changes inside the cabin of the Etios siblings as well. The analog instrument cluster still sits in the centre of the dashboard, but is revised to bring in a fresh appeal. The other changes include a dual tone black and beige dashboard, chrome air vents and a multi-function steering wheel wrapped in black leather. However, it should be noted that the interior is not the same as the afore-mentioned Brasilian models, which get a digital instrument cluster and touch screen infotainment system.

On the powertrain front, the engine options are expected to be the same from the current Etios series of cars. This includes a 1.5-litre petrol mill producing 90bhp of power and 132Nm of torque. The oil-burner on the other hand is a 1.4-litre unit churning out 68bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. Both variants come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. So it remains to be seen if Toyota will also add an automatic variant to this line-up.

It is the auspicious festive season when Indian consumers generally opt to buy new products. Toyota has planned well to cash in on this opportunity. The introduction of the refreshed cars should help boost the carmaker's overall sales numbers. More about the variant-wise pricing for these cars will be shared on the day of the launch this month.
