Hyundai teased some sketches of their facelifted Sonata a few days ago, and now, the official image of their upcoming saloon has also leaked. From the looks of it, this is the standard version of the car, which means that a more aggressive version will be in the works for the US market, called the ‘Sport 2.0T’.

We admit that the overall styling of the car in the image isn’t as sporty as it shows in the teaser sketches, but nevertheless, Hyundai has done a fine job of revamping the exterior design cues. The facelifted saloon seems to now get a larger front grille with fresh looking head lamp internals and new LED DRLs, with a reworked bumper that has larger air intakes.

Sources also add that the rear end of the facelifted car could receive updates like a restyled boot lid with new tail lights and a slightly redesigned bumper. While no confirmation about the new engines have been revealed by Hyundai, there is speculation that the brand’s new 275bhp, 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the i30 N hot hatch, could make it to the facelifted Sonata range.

Expect more information in the weeks to come as Hyundai readies the facelifted Sonata for a Korean launch.
