Mercedes-Benz will be launching the GLA with a more powerful diesel engine, 220d, which is a 2.2-litre diesel engine that churns about 168bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. At the moment, the GLA is available with a lesser diesel power rating, even though it is the same engine.
The GLA 220d will be launched this year and this will make the GLA at par with the rest of the competition, when it comes to the rating. The BMW X1 and the Audi Q3 have a higher power output, so now the Stuttgart-based automaker will not want to miss out on this.This should be sometime around by mid-2016, however we aren’t certain about the launch time.
The GLA was launched in 2014 in India as a CBU and now it is locally assembled in Mercedes-Benz’s Chakan plant. Based on the MFA-platform, the GLA shares its underpinnings with the A-Class, B-Class and the CLA-Class.
