BMW, finally, forayed into the performance SUV segment with the launch of all new X5M and X6M in India at a price of Rs 1.55 Cr and Rs 1.60 Cr respectively. With an M-powered 4.4-litre V8 engine, it is the most powerful motor built by BMW for a four wheel drive vehicle. As claimed officially, this motor can do a 0 to 100 kmph in 4.2 seconds.

At the launch event, we caught up Philipp von Sahr, president, BMW Group India, to learn more about the brand’s roadmap ahead and it is here that we were told about the new BMW 3-Series launching in India next month. This update makes complete sense as the 3-Series will become the fifteenth product as originally committed by the brand to launch fifteen new products in this year.

The new BMW 3-Series will not be an all new product but will see important updates to make sure it stands tall among its competitors. The headlights will feature a new sharper and sleeker profile with all LED lights and similar treatment has been done on tail lamps as well with a new well defined outline. Even the front and rear bumpers have been restyled for a more dynamic profile.

Inside, the interiors have been updated with the use of more premium line of materials. Event the infotainment system has been tweaked to offer better interface than the previous version. Importantly, the new 3-Series will also return to its roots of offering the best in class dynamics as BMW has worked extensively on the chassis by altering the steering behavior and also updating the suspensions with better dampers on the rear. We expect the prices of the new BMW 3-Series to be reasonably higher than the last model; it will also help the brand compete strongly against the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class and also the upcoming Jaguar XE.
