Honda recently conducted online unveil of its Europe bound HR-V, which is sold in Japan as Vezel. The online unveiling took place almost a month ahead of its public debut at the upcoming 2014 Paris Motor Show slated to begin in October. Traces of similarities could be seen in the Europe spec model and the US bound model. Preeminent design highlights of the vehicle includes sweptback head lights infused with LED daytime running lights, C-pillar mounted rear door handles athletic wheel arches, redesigned tail lights and coupe-ish semblance imparting a modish look to the vehicle. Dimension wise both the Europe bound and US-spec models are expected to be identical. The US-spec model measures 4295 mm in length, is 1770 mm wide and has a height of 1605 mm. It also brags a long wheelbase of 2610 mm. In its segment, Honda HR-V will compete with Nissan Juke , Peugeot 2008, Fiat 500X and Renault Captur in global markets. The vehicle is likely to go on sale in European market during 2015. It is yet uncertain whether this SUV will be inducted in India or not since HR-V is being touted as a premium SUV hence chances of bringing it to India are bleak. However, Honda India is developing a compact SUV based on its popular Brio platform.
Nothing has been revealed regarding the engine configuration of the vehicle. It is being expected that the car maker will unwind details on mechanical front at the Paris Motor Show next month. Although speculations are rife that HR-V could get the 1.0 litre, three cylinder and a 1.5 litre, four cylinder motor. Both the petrol engines are the newly developed turbocharged mills. Rumour has it that a 1.6 litre i-DTEC diesel pwoertrain could be inducted at a later stage.
