      Elite i20 Cross to be Launched in 2015 - What to look for in the new Crossover

      The popular automobile manufacturing company, Hyundai India has come up with the news that it will launch the i20 based crossover, Elite i20 in 2015. Though the company has not yet said anything about the launch date and the price tag, however, the news is confirmed that the crossover will be launched in the next year itself.

      This South Korean car manufacturing brand had revealed that it intended to launch the Elite i20 Cross sometime soon. Apart from this, the company also showed its intentions to launch a brand new compact SUV with the name ix25. Going by this, it is expected that the brand is ready to bolster its presence in India with these new additions to its product portfolio.

      Elite i20 Cross, which is based on the Elite i20, was seen several times before its official unveiling. There will be a lot of similarities with respect to styling, appearance and performance between the new crossover model and its smaller standard i20. The new model is also expected to get the same engine. However, just like any other crossover variants, this model will also have some slight differences from the standard variant.

      The petrol variant of the Elite i20 is powered by a 1.2 litre engine, while the diesel car is powered by a 1.4 litre CRDi motor engine. The petrol engine generates 83 PS of power and a peak torque of 114 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel engine is capable of generating a power 90 PS and a peak torque of 220 Nm.

      The exterior of the car will be slightly modified to fit in the crossover dynamics and engine arrangements. As far as the spy shots are concerned, different alloy wheels, a renewed body cladding as well as aluminium roof rails. Though Hyundai has been secretive about the pricing, it is expected that the crossover will be placed somewhere around the 8 lakhs INR price bracket. It will rev up the competition in the segment and is set to rival Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross and Volkswagen Polo Cross in the country after its launch.
