Ford India is enjoying a joy ride of success after the launch of its small car model Ford Figo in India. The company has ambitious plans for the Indian market after the success of its compact car and its entry level sedan Ford Fiesta. Ford now intends to introduce eight new car models in the country in a span of five years.
Ford has already enjoyed a healthy sales figure of 8380 in September 2010 which is 146 percent jump as compared to same period last month. It sold only 3405 vehicles in September 2009. Ford Figo is expected to cross 50,000 production mark that will coincide with the festive season in India.
The new car models coming to India will not be India-specific but will be developed based on a global strategy. Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director of Ford Motor India did not give details of the final models coming to India but stated that its products will cover all segment where it sees significant growth.
