Ford India is planning to introduce its EcoBoost technology in its new models coming to India which will increase the fuel efficiency at least by 20 percent. The engine will also have lower carbon dioxide emission at least by 15 percent. The new technology will enable Ford engines to comply with the new emission norms.

“Initially, we will go for the regular technology to develop 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine to benefit from government’s policy of lower excise on such engine sizes and introduce the much expensive EcoBoost engines in the long-term,” said Michael Boneham, president and MD Ford India.

This new technology has already been launched in the US where it powers the compact cars as well as commercial trucks sold in the US market. EcoBoost uses gasoline turbocharged direct-injection technology.

Ford currently manufacturers 1.6 Duratec petrol engines and 1.4 Duratorq diesel engines which are present in its sedans like Fiesta and Ikon and Fusion hatchback model.
