The Italian superbike maker, Ducati has decided to re-enter the Indian market in 2015. After making the mistake of choosing a wrong distributor in 2008, the company is said to be going by itself after re-entering India. In 2008, the superbike maker decided to take Precision Motors as its distribution partner. However, poor and underhand services from the distribution partner made Ducati sad and also damaged its highly premium reputation.

The company’s sales have been null from 2014, giving the Italian company a reason to work hard and get its Indian wing in order. In the initial phase, only two showrooms will be available in India, one in Gurgaon and the other one in Mumbai. The company aims to start the sales of its bikes in March 2015 and will showcase all of its models. Currently, the company stands at number one position in the world in making sportsbikes.

Coming to the models to be launched in the Indian market, Ducati Scrambler is said to be coming in the first half of 2015. The new bike is said to be priced around Rs. 7 lakhs in India, thanks to the trade agreements between Thailand and India. For India, all the Ducati bikes will be imported from Thailand. Cristiano Silei, the Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Ducati said that the company has considered India as a crucial part of its future global strategy, and it also have plans to strengthen company’s presence in the country with a larger network of sales and in-line services.
