      Delhi's odd-even scheme set for comeback from April 15th-30th

      After successful implementation of odd-even rule in January this year, the government has planned on reintroducing the odd-even scheme that would be enforced from 15th April – 30th April his year. Speaking more on the occasion Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “The scheme will be implemented from April 15 to 30. The board exams are getting over on April 12 and we will enforce the scheme thereafter. VIPs, women and two-wheeler will continue to be kept out of the ambit of the scheme.” The government is currently carrying out test runs to analyze long term feasibility and public response.

      As per the scheme vehicles bearing registration numbers ending with 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, it would be allowed to ply on odd dates, while the vehicles bearing registration numbers ending with 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 would be allowed to ply on even dates. Drivers flouting the rule shall be liable to pay a fine amounting to up to Rs 2,000. While the restriction is not applicable on Sunday, it is applicable throughout the week from 8AM to 8PM. He further added that though there are certain exemptions for VIPs, it would be good if they too follow the system.
