For meeting the persisting challenge of making the car safety mechanism more cost-effective, the safety systems are increasingly being synthesised and integrated. These mechanisms are adopted differently by companies across the country. In order to enhance the functional efficiency and cut down the ownership cost, new-age safety features along with upgraded driving assistance techniques, such as chassis, telematics and navigation systems are incorporated in the cars.

This year, at the Auto Expo, companies displayed different types of driver assistance systems that assist drivers to encounter the hidden hurdles and allow them to opt for better decisions. Numerous companies, such as Smart Key, Bosch and Technoton Sensors Pvt. Ltd., have exhibited the latest systems related to car security and driver assistance at their stalls.

To ensure optimum security of vehicle using keyless operations, smart key option based on Siemens PASE (Passive Start and Entry System) technology has been introduced. As the name suggests, this system allows driver to enter or exit the car automatically without locking/unlocking as well as start or stop the vehicle without using keys.

Bosch has integrated numerous systems in its cars that help drivers in many ways during the journey. In order to check that the steering wheel input is properly accorded with the direction of the vehicle, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with intelligent sensors is incorporated in the car. If it corresponds, it decreases the torque of engine along with restoring the stability of the vehicle.

Bosch also showcased the Airbag control unit, integrated with two peripheral acceleration sensors that assist in sensing side crashes. In addition, this also helps in inflation of the airbags immediately from the sides of the vehicle.

Besides, Bosch is also providing SMARTRA, a technique popularly known as anti-theft system. This system provides an interface between the ECU (Engine Control Unit) and the ignition key transponder, which makes the car immobile in case someone tries to enter the vehicle forcefully.

Technoton Sensors has come up with the axle load sensors that assist in controlling the axle load and cargo weight in the tracking system. This system helps vehicle tracking system to know about the loading and unloading time along with the location. Moreover, in order to make people aware about road safety, Hubert Ebner India Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Earth Matters Foundation is planning to produce a movie on the same.
