Delhi Auto Expo 2010 was expected to be the world’s second largest Auto Expo before the show began. However, with more than 2 million visitors during the 7 day affair and 25 new car launches it is the world’s largest auto expo so far. So far Shanghai Auto Expo 2009 was one of the biggest auto trade fair held in last year with 13 new model launches.

Union Minister of state for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia commented that India is relatively a “virgin market” with only nine cars per thousand persons. "...India is becoming attractive choice for its low-cost design innovation and design of scale and is becoming hub for manufacture of small cars... The Indian automobile market is growing at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 30 per cent and last fiscal exports grew by 52 per cent," he added.

This year Delhi Auto Expo broke all records with unexpected foot falls at the auto show. Moreover, other auto shows like Shanghai Auto Show and New York Auto Expo are held for 9 days and 10 days respectively. NY Auto Expo also gets an added advantage of its venue being located in the heart of the city which is not so with Delhi Auto Expo being held at Pragati Maidan.

"In terms of product launches, this expo surpassed all the previous editions with 25 new models revealed. This is the biggest and the best show we have ever had so far. We hope this expo will be the springboard for future development of the automobile and manufacturing sector,” stated Hero Group's Sunil Kant Munjal’s who claimed more than 2105 exhibitors participated in the show.
