The pollution problem in Delhi recently spiraled out of control for which the government has decided to take some drastic steps. Now the de-registration was proposed before as well, but  no action was taken and it was widely believed that the government was working on a scrappage scheme before they started de-registering diesel vehicles that were more than 10 years old.

But now following the resolution passed by the National Green Tribunal, the Delhi Regional Transport Office has started the process of de-registering diesel cars that are more than 10 years old and still plying on Delhi roads. What is also not clear is that if these vehicles can be sold in a different state or if they will be granted an NOC to be registered elsewhere. The rule applies to cars, buses and trucks and strangely even the vintage cars will not be spared.

Things are just as hazy as Delhi’s weather as of now and will start clearing up as the rule takes proper shape.
