      DC Avanti might launch next month

      First unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo, the much-awaited DC Avanti sportscar is all set to hit showrooms in May, 2015. The DC Avanti is the first made-in-India sportscar, which is expected to be priced around Rs. 35 lakh. Bookings for the car have already commenced, while the deliveries are expected to commence soon.

      Dimensionally, the DC Avanti is 4,550mm long, 1,965mm wide and 1,200mm tall, which is considerably higher than the Lamborghinis and Ferraries. Normally, sportscar comes with low ground clearance; however, the DC Avanti features 170mm of ground clearance. This ground clearance is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions.

      The DC Avanti is based on a box section space frame. It is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out 250PS of power and 241Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels of the sportscar via a six-speed manual transmission. The muscular wheel arches of the car have been fitted to massive 20-inch wheels. The braking system comprises of 330mm discs upfront and 295mm discs at the back. The sportscar feature a double wishbone type suspension with coil springs on all four corners to absorb the undulations on the road.

      It is equipped with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) which is developed by Continental. Inside the cabin, the Avanti sportscar features three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, hooded dials, touchscreen infotainment system, stacked screens on centre console, air conditioning with soft touch buttons, etc.
