Datsun will be introducing new models and upgrades in the country as part of the company’s plans to strengthen its foothold in India. Thomas Kuehl, President, Nissan India revealed that there will be a Datsun badged SUV which will be priced under Rs 10 lakhs. The soon to be introduced Datsun SUV is expected to be based on the CMF-A platform, produced under the Renault-Nissan alliance.
Although Datsun chooses to remain tightlipped about the development, it is believed to be under four metres in length and will carry a crossover styling inspired from the Nexon. Reports further indicate that the Datsun SUV might be powered by a turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre petrol engine from the RediGo. We believe that the vehicle will be offered with standard safety features such as ABS with EBD and dual front airbags along with good quality upholstery.
Apart from the SUV, the company will be expanding its product portfolio every six months starting with the GO and the Go+ facelifts and a special edition of the Redigo hatchback. Interestingly, the upcoming Go and Go+ facelifts will get new features in the form of new touchscreen, new front seats, ABS and dual airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC).
