While Datsun is still getting ready to launch its first car in India, it hasn't kept the company from revealing a new concept car called the Datsun redi-GO. Utilising the same platform as that of the Datsun Go, it is a small five-door hatchback on raised suspension. Bringing together the practicality of a hatchback along with the stance of a compact SUV, the redi-GO concept is said to be a preview of the potential for a small crossover in the Indian market. Its design is reflective of Datsun's new design policy. Koji Nagano, Executive Design Director, Datsun stated that whilst developing the redi-GO, the keywords included a modern and solid design that appeared contemporary and substantial.

Furthermore, the redi-GO concept also gets modern headlights that incorporate narrow daytime running lights and the rear LED taillights feature an 'idiosyncratic' twist to give the concept a unique visual signature.Though the company did not reveal any engine specifications for the Redi-Go, one can expect it to share the same engine as the Datsun Go, a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine borrowed from the Nissan Micra. A release from the company said that though the concept remains a styling study at the current stage, were it to be put into production it would be priced to target established compact hatchbacks.

Vincent Cobee, Global Head, Datsun also added that if the redi-GO was to be produced, it would be a segment creator in India. The concept, he further added, shows how serious Datsun is about stirring things up in the market.
