Built on the same CMF-A platform that underpins the Renault Kwid, the new Datsun Redigo gets the same 799cc three-cylinder engine powering the Kwid. However, the Redigo looks completely different from any entry-level hatchback in India. It also has different features to offer across its five variants - D, A, T, T(O) and S. Starting at a price of Rs 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi), the Datsun Redigo is now on sale in India. Let's see what each variant has to offer.

The D variant priced at Rs 2.38 lakh

This D trim is the base variant of the Redigo and does miss out on some features from the top-end S variant. It gets black coloured steel wheels instead of the silver wheels and just one ORVM on the driver's side. The interior gets standard fabric upholstery, integrated front headrests and fixed rear seats. Though the tachometer is absent, this variant gets the MID on the instrument cluster.

The A variant priced at Rs 2.82 lakh

A step above the D trim, the A variant gets silver coloured steel wheels and a passenger side ORVM. This trim gets body coloured bumpers and there are chrome accents on the grille. The premium fabric upholstery is a notch above the standard one. There is the air conditioner which the D trim missed out on, and this A version also gets a digital tachometer, 12V power socket and engine immobilizer. Instead of the fixed rear seats, this one gets foldable ones and a passenger side sun visor.

The T variant Priced at Rs 3.09 lakh

The exterior changes in the T version over the A trim include body-coloured door handles and wheel covers. The biggest addition is of power steering and the cabin features a piano black finish on centre console. There is a mobile docking station and two speakers in the front as well.

The T(O) variant Priced at Rs 3.19 lakh

In addition to the features from the T variant, this T(O) version gets front power windows and a music system with CD, AUX, AM/FM and USB support.

The S variant Priced at Rs 3.34 lakh

This is the top-spec Redigo that comes packed with all the features from the rest of the variants. Datsun has equipped this top-of-the-line variant with LED DRLs as fog lamps. However, the most important addition comes in the form of the driver-side airbag.

We would have loved to see ABS on the car and it would have been a great option to have airbags even as an alternative. Nevertheless, the Datsun Redigo has intended to put forth a proposition that an entry-level car need not look boring and have basic features. So we would suggest you to buy the S variant as it gets all the features.
