Fresh spy images of a prototype of the upcoming Datsun RediGo have surfaced on the internet. The RediGo will be launched by the end of this year and will add to the Datsun Go and Go Plus in the existing Datsun line-up.

The RediGo is a compact hatchback shares the CMF-A platform with Renault’s Kwid and will be the second car in India on the same platform. The RediGo, as a concept, was first revealed at the 2014 Auto Expo and the production car seems to have retained a lot from the concept. The front fascia gets the typical Datsun hexagonal mesh grille and headlamps like the concept. The wheel arches though, are not as flared as the concept. The tail also seems to be toned down, but cannot be conclusively said owing to the camouflage.

While we have no information on the interiors, there is also an ambiguity as to what would go under the hood. While the RediGo is expected to get the 800cc 53bhp petrol engine from the Kwid, there are reports of Datsun’s own 1.2-litre petrol mill making it in to the hatchback.

The Datsun RediGo will take on existing compact hatchbacks like the Alto and the Eon along with the Renault Kwid and is expected to be priced about Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base variant.
