The much awaited Datsun Redigo has finally been launched in Mumbai at a lucrative starting price tag of Rs 2.49 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The company claims that the Redigo, the unique urban-crossover, has been styled in Japan but developed and manufactured in India. The new car is available in five variants – D, A, T, T(O) and S. It is available in five colour options - white, silver, grey, ruby and lime.
Under the hood, the Datsun Redigo is powered by an 0.8-litre three-cylinder i-SAT (Intelligent Spark Automated Technology) engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission which generates 53bhp of power at 5678rpm and 72Nm of torque at 4386rpm. The car claims of achieving a top speed of 140kmph and is capable of accelerating from 0-100kmph in about 15.9 seconds. The decently powered engine returns a fuel efficiency figure of 25.17kmpl.
In terms of dimensions, the new Datsun Redigo measures 3429 mm in length, 1560 mm in width, and 1541 mm in height. The tall boy design has helped it offer a good ground clearance figure of 185mm. The car gets a decent 222-litre boot capacity. As for safety, the top-end S variant gets driver side airbag and daytime running lamps as standard. The T(O) and S variants get 2-DIN audio system, USB and AUX connectivity, CD player and front power windows. Basic features like power steering is available from T variant onwards, while AC is available in all except the base D variant.
To further enhance the customer ownership experience, Datsun has offered attractive 2 year/unlimited kilometres standard warranty. It also comes with an optional warranty for 2 or 3 years/unlimited kilometres with free roadside assistance. This gives Redigo owners the option of benefitting up to 5 years/unlimited kilometres warranty coverage. The company claims to promise the lowest cost of ownership which is about 32 per cent lower than the competition. Convenience of roadside assistance is provided free of cost with both standard and extended warranties.
