Rising from the ashes, Nissan’s low cost brand Datsun has big plans for the emerging markets. India is definitely a vital market for the brand, however the company is also focusing hard on the Russian automotive market. After unveiling on-Do sedan in Russia that is expected to break cover during June, a hatchback launch is also being anticipated by Datsun for the Russian market. Christened as mi-Do, the hatchback was captured in frame undergoing test runs around the country.

Buzz has it that Datsun is also preparing to launch a crossover in Russia, this would be the third model from the company’s stable to be placed under its Russia portfolio. However, as reported by a Russian website, the head honcho of Datsun Russia, Jerome Saigot has given a green signal to the launch plans of a new crossover. We expect that Datsun could bring this unnamed crossover to India also, as it is a newly inducted segment in India and a viable option from Datsun will fit the bill.

However, the company does not seem to be in a rush to reveal its vehicle plan for the domestic market, the suspense will unfold in a couple of months. At the 2014 Auto Expo, Datsun displayed redi-GO concept, a small crossover, the company presented it as a five door hatchback that has a raw semblance similar to that of a SUV.

At present, Russia is the focal point for Datsun, the company will offer these three vehicles, a sedan, hatchback and a crossover in the country for the next three years. Datsun’s vehicle range in Russia will cost under 4,00,000 rubel around INR 6,83,788.

Datsun plans on producing the on-Do sedan locally at the Avtovaz facility located in Russia, this will enable the car maker to curb the price to competitive limits. As far as India launch of the sedan and crossover is concerned there is no official word out on that yet from the company.
