Datsun Go's new advertisement emphasises on new is better theme

Datsun Go, at the time of launch managed to generate quite a lot of curiosity among the local lot. But with time, due to other stronger names like Maruti and Hyundai in the Indian market the Datsun brand could not generate the desired sales of about 5000 units a month. The new commercial is aimed to changing old belief that older brands are reliable and trustworthy. The advertisement features actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Alok Nath (Bollywood’s Babuji).

The advertisement features Ayushmann Khurrana driving around the city showcasing Nayi Parampara to Babuji. The advertisement shows the Blue coloured Datsun Go navigating around streets filled with popular picks like Maruti and Hyundai. The front wheel drive powered hatchback is powered by 1.2 Liter engine that is mated to five speed gearbox. By the end of the commercial, Babuji’s character played by Alok Nath seems to be convinced with the fact that Datsun Go is indeed stylish, better performing and reliable than the rest in its segment.

Sources from the company have denied competing with its rivals. Ajay Raghuvanshi, vice-president, business management, said, “We are not taking on any of our rivals.” Speaking more on it he said, “Our television commercial is about traditional versus modern design. I am not looking at any of the brand from that perspective.”
