Datsun will be launching GO+ MPV in India by the festive season this year. The low cost brand from Nissan made its foray in domestic market in March with the launch of GO hatchback. Previously, speculations were rife that the MPV could break cover in early 2015, however the launch plan has been pre-poned to festive season. Datsun could price the MPV aggressively at Rs 5 lakh, other vehicles present in MPV segment in India cost much higher than this, and therefore the vehicle will have an edge over its rivals on price front.

Since the MPV is based on GO hatchback, it will be borrowing most of the parts from the latter, enabling Datsun to price it competitively. Above all, confining length to sub-four meter will help the car maker to keep the price affordable.

GO+ MPV is likely to come powered with the same set of engines as seen in Go hatchback. GO+ MPV is basically being anticipated as an oversized version of GO hatchback, besides sharing engine configuration, the MPV is also expected to take interior cues from its petite sibling. Datsun will offer GO+ MPV in seven seat layout.

Currently the plant has the capacity to produce 400,000 units, the company is considering to ramp up production capacity to 480,000 units. The increased production will be used to manufacture Datsun vehicles at the manufacturing unit. Nissan’s low cost brand has started off well in India with GO hatchback, the small car turned out to be a major contributor in Nissan’s monthly sales in the first month of its launch.
