Datsun Go had been launched in March 2014 and since then the Japanese carmaker Nissan has been witnessing immense growth in the Indian market. Incidentally, the car had bolstered the performance of Nissan within a matter of two months only. In May, the company reported that two fold increase in sales had been observed in the Indian market. Among the 5021 units of Nissan, 1992 were that of the Go hatchback. The sales prospects grew after that and Nissan has carved out a niche in the industry, riding on the shoulders of Datsun Go.

The car has been priced modestly at 3.1 to 3.8 lakhs INR depending upon the variants. It runs on a 1198 cc 12V engine, which is capable of producing 67.06 bhp at the rate of 5000 rpm. The torque output of the engine is 104 Nm at the rate of a modest 4000 rpm. The car comes with a FWD option, with a five-speed transmission system. The seating capacity of the car is five and with a 265 litre cargo volume, the hatch is quite capacious. All amenities for comfort are provided at the interiors, which is a main reason for its popularity as a family car.

Nissan had been quite successful with its sedan Sunny in the past and its high-end SUV Terrano was also a competitive name. However, with the arrival of Datsun Go in the Indian market, the performance of the company has been bolstered by a fair margin. The company is also set to launch Go+ MPV, which is expected to take the flag of the company several notches higher.
