Datsun's Go hatchback was at the center of criticism last year when it poorly failed Global NCAP crash safety standards for Adult Occupant Protection. In an attempt to regain its lost market, Datsun had improved the overall build quality and offered driver side airbag in the higher model. This time around the hatchback has managed to score a decent 2-star rating post tests conducted by ASEAN NCAP.
The Datsun GO managed to score 6.82 pointers owing to Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and additionally it earned a 2-Star rating for Child Occupant Protection (COP) with about 46% compliance. Unlike the last year test when the vehicle completely disintegrated, the new model faired well during test that was executed at speed of about 64km/h. With the new safety initiative, the hatchback is indeed expected to regain its lost sheen in the country.
