The German auto giant Daimler is all set to develop a new LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) in the Indian market in partnership with Nissan-Renault joint venture. Before rolling-out the range of commercial cars in the Indian market, the Daimler-Nissan-Renault partnership will be conduction a feasibility study in the Indian market to analyze the demand for this type of vehicles in the Indian auto market. Following the initial study, these auto makers will be developing an India oriented LCV, taking into consideration all needs and requirements of the Indian buyers of this segment.

In India, Nissan is currently in partnership with the leading commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland. However it is still unclear whether Daimler will go ahead with this tie-up in the Indian market. The joint venture has a popular LCV Dost in their Indian portfolio, which is receiving a good response among the Indian buyers.

It is to be mentioned here that Nissan-Renault joint venture is currently the 6th largest selling car maker in the global market. On the other hand, Daimler has established a new commercial vehicle making plant in Oragadam, Chennai, from where it plans to roll-out vehicles not only for the Indian market but also for the other markets like Asia and Africa.
