      Cumulative sales of Hyundai shot up by 16.6 per cent

      India’s second largest automaker, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), reported comprehensive sales of 55,670 units, marking a growth of 16.6 per cent when evaluated against 47,762 units sold in the corresponding period last year. The domestic sales of the company also expanded by 2.8 per cent, resulting to 32,010 units under the review of 31,123 units sold in the same period last year. HMIL is also considered as the largest car exporter of India and this year the company exported 23,660 units with an increase of 42.2 per cent as compared to 16,639 units of the last year.

      Addressing the decent sales of HMIL, Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “The recent hike in petrol prices has depressed market sentiment, with the macro-economic indicators providing no cause for cheer, the demand outlook doesn’t look very bright.”

      Considering comprehensive sales in individual segments during May 2012, A2 segment, which includes Hyundai Eon, Santro, i10 and i20 account for 48,250 units, whereas A3 segment which incorporates Hyundai Accent and Vernareported sales of 7,306 units. Moving ahead to A5 segment, which is currently filled by Sonata accounted for 43 units, whereas Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment reported sales of 71 units of Santa Fe.
