      The German carmaker has made its presence a while ago with a reliable hatchback rechristened as Polo. Quality and performance has always been the USP with the Volkswagen line. Design-wise the hatchback never featured a bold and aggressive stance, in-fact the car was sleek and sporty, true to its Volkswagen image. Nissan Micra is the only hatchback offered by Nissan for the Indian market. The car boasts of interesting features like the Push Button Start. Quality construct and efficient engine are complimented with smart looks of this car.

      The new Volkswagen Polo GT TSI has been stated to be faster and exciting than its ancestors. To begin with the car is powered by 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine incorporated with direct injection and turbo-charging functionality. It’s worth noting that with the new technology the car is stated to generate power like the discontinued 1.6 version. The car generates an impressive 103 bhp with 175 Nm of max torque. Moreover, the Polo GT TSI is mated to 7 speed DSG automatic transmission. Interiors and exteriors of this car have not undergone major changes. The only major change is from a technical perspective. Surprisingly the car delivered good fuel efficiency of 11.5 kmpl within the city, whereas it returned 14 kmpl on the highway stretches.

      Nissan Micra has won the prestigious “2010 Small Car of the Year” award for the petrol variant. This hatchback is powered by 1.2 litre HR12 engine, dual over head camshaft. The 3-cylinder 12 valve in-line petrol mill has the capacity to displace close to 1198cc. Nissan Micra XV CVT features a unique power train churn out a maximum power output of 74.48Bhp at 6000 Rpm in combination with a peak torque output of 104Nm at 4000 Rpm. The engine has been mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission gear box and has been designed to deliver simplified gear shifts. For safety, the car features antilock braking system with EBD and brake assist. Furthermore, the front occupants in the car are secured with airbags.

      Both the cars, Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and Nissan Micra XV are brilliant performers. The only catch here is, Polo comes with an automatic transmission whereas Micra is mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox.
