A nice Sunday morning when you wake up, have a cup of tea/coffee with a freshly prepared breakfast and then head out to check out some vintage luxury cars in your town, could you ask for more? Globally popular luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz surprised Mumbaikars with a classic car rally that had about 50 cars that were invited to the event. Infact, about 70 cars turned up at the event unexpectedly and further added glory and glitter to the event that was meant to celebrate 120 successful years for Mercedes-Benz's rich motorsport heritage.
Speaking more on the occasion, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “Mercedes-Benz made history by participating in the world's first automobile competition in 1894. Having won its first Grand Prix in 1908 and many more accolades it is remarkable to see it do so well in its first outing at the F1 after the major change in rules." The shining jewels at the event featured classics like Pontons such as the W120s, Fintails such as the W110 and the W111. The bystanders were also greeted by the sight of W124, W108 and 190SL. The event also outshone with the presence of modern Mercedes Benz line-up like CLA AMG, GL AMG, SLS AMG and GLA AMG.
The event also acknowledged Mercedes-Benz's first ever FIA F1 'World Constructor's Championship' victory. Vintage cars are not commonly sighted on streets in Mumbai, and with this event the local citizens woke up to pleasant sounds from vintage cars carrying Mercedes Benz badging.
