After having passed through strict scrutiny and high amount of rejections by the people, the Citi Bike concept of New York finally has gained some interest by the local people and the tourists of NYC.
In a crowded city like New York, traveling in a car is never an efficient option. It is always preferred to buy or rent a motorbike or a bicycle to enjoy the scenes of the beautiful city, as well as reach to your destination in lesser time. This calls for the development of a bike-sharing concept, which was developed in the NYC recently.
According to the Citi Bike, you can hire a bicycle for a particular amount of time from the bike stands or other such parking areas. All you need is to get a pass, which are available in hourly, weekly or monthly variants as per the requirement. This concept didn’t pickup many customers in the beginning, but it finally seems that it is gaining the attention of people now.
This increase in the usage of this service is said to have been brought due to the introduction of the new boss to the company. Jay Walder was once the chief of New York’s MTA and holds a vast experience in running the city’s transit. It was also rumored that the concept will be funded by some other corporation than Citi Bank, but all these rumors have been brought to rest with the statement that Citi Bank will be the proud organizers and funders of this concept at least until 2024.
There has also been an infusion of more cash, which would be used for servicing of the older bikes available, and would be returned to service only after getting a tune-up. Setting up of 700 new stations and 12,000 new bikes by 2017 has also been proposed.
With this concept being accepted by people, this venture can go on to become a huge success amongst tourists and nature lovers. It is a step towards a greener city and also an opportunity for newer concepts and innovations.
