      Chrysler Starts Ground Work for India

      India is yet to witness models like Jeep and Dodge on its roads. However, maker of these cars has already begun its market assessment in India. It has already begun developing its cars in India even before launching any of its new models.

      Daimler Chrysler shall also invest Rs 250 crore at its new Pune facility. It has already started its shifting operations from 20 acre rented plot to its 100 acre own land in Pune, India. It has also plans to double the number of its engineers at its Chennai plant this year. It shall have 400 engineers against its current 200 engineers employed outside United States.

      Daimler Chrysler currently employs approximately 1000 engineers outside the US. It has also opened its office in Shanghai, China as a part of its expansion plans in the South East Asia.

      Chrysler is also planning a small car for Indian roads in collaboration with Renault. It has already had talks with Mahindra and Mahindra for manufacturing Indian Safari.
