      Chrysler in Talks with Tamil Nadu Government in India

      Chrysler plans to set up Greenfield facility in India. It is currently in talks with Tamil Nadu government to set up the same in the state. The company has already agreed to send a team for the feasibility study.

      Tamil Nadu officials have met the company that gave them a briefing about setting up a plant in the state. Earlier a team of technology experts and government officials had toured to US to woo the investors for investments in the state. Government of Tamil Nadu has ambitious plans for the current year to sign MoUs worth Rs. 30,000 crores or more for investments in state.

      Chrysler plans to make its foray in the country soon that is included in its expansion plans in Asia. It is one of the major car auto makers along with French Citroen and Malaysian Proton auto makers that do not mark their presence in the Indian auto maker. Chrysler broke off with its German Daimler in 2007 and now intends to set up its own presence in the various car markets across the world. It aims to enter the car market in India looking at the booming Indian car industry.

      The first Chysler brand to roll out in India assembled and manufactured by an Indian auto maker was Plymouth from the Kurla plant in Premier Automobiles in the year 1947. India shall now see a new face of the company in the new millennium.
