      Chevrolet Trailblazer Vs Mahindra XUV500 - Clash of Automatics

      Mahindra has newly launched an automatic option on its popular muscular SUV XUV500 in India. Around a month ago Chevrolet had also launched its all new SUV in the country named in Trailblazer in India. With more and more customers looking out for convenient driving options, automatics are steadily growing in popularity among the masses. Apart from the technical specs, there is also a considerable price difference between the two. The Chevrolet Trailblazer comes at a price tag of Rs 26.40 Lakh, while the new Mahindra XUV automatic is offered in three options - W8 FWD for Rs 15.36 and W10 in FWD for Rs 16.2 Lakh and AWD for Rs 17.22 lakh. Lets look at some of the difference that makes one better than the other.

      Mahindra XUV500

      The Mahindra XUV500 gets a 2179cc Hawk140 Diesel, 5th Generation Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) engine that generates about 138bhp and 330Nm of torque. The SUV comes with optional 2nd generation 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from AISIN, Japan apart from the regular six-speed manual transmission. The trailblazer on the other hand gets a bigger 2.8-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that has been mated to six-speed automatic that generates about 200bhp of power at 3,600rpm and 500nm of torque at about 2,000rpm.

      In terms of safety, the Mahindra XUV500 gets ESP, Hill Hold and Hill Descent control, reverse parking camera with Dynamic assist and 6-airbags. Whereas, the Chevrolet Trailblazer comes with chromatic LCD monitor, cornering brake control, dual airbags, reverse camera with chromatic LCD monitor, dual airbags, reverse camera with chromatic LCD monitor, ABS with EBD and ESP. For entertainment, the Trailblazer offers seven-inch MyLink touch-screen infotainment system with iOS and Android support, while the XUV500 gets 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

      Though the Trailblazer comes with slightly better features, the price at which the SUV is being offered in the country, it's a bit steep. The Mahindra XUV500 on the other hand wins this aspect with a much lower price tag that too with an optional automatic transmission, safety and convenience features. Though the Trailblazer offers more of a premium drive, the XUV500 does not feel bad atall and indeed emerges as a strong proposition.
