General Motors' vehicle brand, Chevrolet has announced that it would unveil the 2013 Spark Minicar at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. Chevrolet Spark has already gained much laurels in Europe, Asia, Australia, Mexico and South America, where the car is currently on sale.

The company has reportedly upgraded the five-door hatchback model for the Canadian and American markets. The 2013 Spark Minicar will feature a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder engine along with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology and is expected to have a power churning capacity of 85 bhp.

Apart from the updated engine, the hatchback is also expected to enthral several car buyers with a well-equipped interior. The interior of the 2013 Spark will have the MyLink Infotainment System, which is a standard feature on Spark 1LT and 2LT models. Moreover, the infotainment system will also include a seven-inch colour touch screen.

The MyLink Infotainment System is an advanced unit that will allow drivers to bring an entire music library into the car and also provide accessibility to Pandora and Stitcher internet radio and navigation. Moreover, the advanced system will project video and photo albums onto the screen even when the car is not on the start mode.

Towards the exterior, the 2013 Spark will be offered in a range of vibrant colours that will target the younger generation. Various shades include Salsa, Techno Pink, Lemonade, Jalapeno and Denim.

The 2013 Chevrolet Spark Minicar is seen as an important aspect of General Motors' strategy to establish the brand in the small car segment. At one point of time, the compact vehicle segment comprised minicars such as Smart Fortwo and BMW Mini Cooper. However, now the segment has broadened and continues to grow with cars like Fiat 500 and Scion iQ. The 2013 Spark will open new avenues not only for the brand but also for the American buyers.

Thus, the new and improved 2013 Chevrolet Spark is expected to carve its niche as a successful hatchback among established competitors.
